Sweetwater Development Under Scrutiny

Jul 24, 2026

City takes action against Sweetwater developers.
An attorney for the City of Bee Cave sent cease and desist letters on July 24 to the developers of 3 properties along Highway 71 (16000 block of Sweetwater Village Drive).

Below is a statement from Bee Cave Mayor Kara King:

Today the City of Bee Cave discovered that, once again, construction processes have begun in Sweetwater Crossing (land governed by a Development Agreement) without approval from the City of Bee Cave.

The issue: the City has determined that the developments rely on detention ponds maintained by Lazy Nine MUD that have not been proven sufficient to protect adjacent landowners and the adjoining roadways and watersheds from flooding and pollution. Until adequate measures are installed, or the Lazy Nine MUD updates its deficient ponds, these developments will pose a public safety risk that is sadly all too well known to Central Texans.

The City's Special Counsel, Casey Low, has issued a cease and desist to the developments and the City will take all action necessary to ensure the public health and safety of area residents.

We will be monitoring the site for any developments over the weekend.
